I am Chris Greaney, Business Manager/Financial Secretary of Local 16. I am running for Re-Election of this position, Election date is Saturday November 16, 2024.

I started out in the industry as an Abatement worker in Local 17 Chicago 1983-1985.

I started in Local 16 in 1986 as a permit then a apprentice in 1987. Finished my apprenticeship in Local 16 and became a Journeyman in 1991. 

I am second generation insulator. Two of my sons are Journeyman insulators of Local 16. My Father was heavily involved in Local 17 in Chicago. I grew up in a Union family, attended Union functions, and lived a Union life. I have a brother that retired from Local 17.

At my start I was an active member of Local 16. Attending Local 16 Picnics, signing up for pickets etc. It is how I was raised. I attended meetings, and learned everything I could about the Union, and how I can help. In 1994 I was elected to be on the Eboard. I then was elected as Union Trustee. In 1997 as a Journeyman, I was voted off the floor as a Local 16 delegate for the Western States Conference. I wrote a report for the conference. In 1999 I was voted off the floor to be on the negotiation team (I was Vice president). We had a five-year contract. Later that year I was Elected as Business Agent. 

I have worked hard my entire career to improve wages, benefits, and working conditions for our members, sometimes through very difficult times. We have had highs and lows, but we have always come together to fight for our Brothers and Sisters and our Union. We have worked to back down or rest on our laurels. We have to fight for what we deserve and fight to keep what we have. To be strong and stay strong. It is encouraging to see our brothers and Sister’s work hand in hand for the future of our Local.  Stronger Together!
